Meet the November Athlete Spotlight Students

November 30, 2023

Delaware Tech student-athletes must excel on and off the field as representatives of the College. Throughout the season on the Delaware Tech Athletics Instagram account, one student-athlete is regularly honored for their overall athletic performance, teamwork, sportsmanship, and commitment to education.

Here are Athlete Spotlight students this month:

Jasmyne Escobar
Jasmyne Escobar is a first-year member of the women's volleyball team, a general studies major, and a graduate of St. Georges Vo-Tech. In 21 games this season, Escobar led the team in assisted blocks (20), solo blocks (11), and total blocks (31). She also had 63 kills and 25 digs. "I think what has made me so successful at blocking the opposing team this season would have to be all the tricks and tips my coaches have taught me," Escobar said. "Especially (Assistant Coach Erin Carney), she has worked with me a lot on my blocking and the improvement shows.

"Playing volleyball for Delaware Tech came as a last-minute decision for me," she said. "I started playing volleyball my sophomore year of high school, and immediately fell in love with the sport. But I did not think I would be good enough for college volleyball, so I wasn't sure if I should try. Thankfully, I did, and I have grown and learned so much as a volleyball player. I love playing volleyball and being a part of a team."

Jordan Moore
Jordan Moore is a second-year member of the men's basketball team, an information technology and networking major, and a graduate of William Penn High School. Through seven games this season, Moore is averaging 13.7 points per game, has 34 total rebounds, 6 assists, and 4 blocks. He is shooting 39-for-77 from the field and 10-for-12 from the free throw line.

"Jordan is one of our team captains, and his offseason hard work demonstrated that he is quite aware success does not happen overnight," Assistant Coach Murphy Marbury said. "Jordan is a self-disciplined young man, has an optimistic attitude, and is focused on the big picture. He shows his pride in our team, is very supportive, and puts others before himself. He is a self-confident leader that controls his emotions, learns from mistakes, and gives his all even when things are not going our way."
